Assembling a Yoda Card

My son-in-law is a huge Star Wars fan and has a birthday coming up.  I wanted to make a card with Yoda on it, but I didn't want to pay for the likeness, so I decided to make Yoda out of shapes from Cricut Design Space.  It was fun!

The inside says, "Celebrate, you must."

I also learned that the shape I used for Yoda's ears is called (at least in Design Space) a squircle.  And the shape I used for his clothing, not the cloak, but the other piece, is called an elongated scallop.  Who knew? And who knew that stars could look like his hands and feet?

I hope this inspires you to create something new!

Ship Card Assembly

One of my sons-in-law is a fan of World of Warships, like my husband, so I decided is birthday card would have a ship theme.  I used shapes, images, and test from Cricut design space as well as Cricut pens, liquid glue, and foam tape to pop up the waves.

I'm not accustomed to making videos, but I decided to video this in case anyone else wants to make similar card.

Thanks for stopping by, and have a crafty week!

An Ink-blended Galaxy Sky

Personal Project:  I have been wanting to use certain stamps in my collection, and I finally got the courage to do my own ink blending to create the galaxy sky background that I wanted.  I'm pleased with how it turned out.

I used the following supplies:

heavyweight white cardstock

Ranger distress inks in Salty Ocean, Weathered Wood, and Seedless Preserves (for the base)

Hero Arts Serengeti Sunrise Ombre' Ink Pad (for the moon)

Gemini Believe in the Magic of Christmas stamp and die set

LDRS Christmas Postage Collage stamp (Santa and his reindeer)

Imagine Sheer Shimmer Spray in Sparkle

Scrapbook.com ink blending tool with domed foam applicator

My materials were purchased from Scrapbook.com and Crafter's Companion.  These are links to their main pages (not affiliate links, so I do not profit in any way if  you choose to make a purchase.)  But if you like this project, please consider buying me a Coke.

Pencil and Fruit Faux Leather Snap Clips

There are two new items in the Etsy shop!  Both are hair clips.  One is shaped like a pencil, perfect for back to school.

The other is adorned with whimsical fruit and daisies including banana, peach, orange, strawberry, and watermelon.

Both are made from hand cut faux leather.  What a cute accessory!

Quick Tip Tuesday - Making Multiples of the Same Project?

This tip came about when I recently made four of the same project.  My tip in this circumstance is to batch.  It's a very simple concept.  Do all of the first step before going to the second.  That means all of your step ones, so for me, it was cutting all 16 pieces for my 4 butterfly clips.

Then I attached the glitter detail for all four butterflies.

Then I attached the vellum for all four butterflies.  And so on.  You get it!

The process is so much easier than doing each project separately.  You save a great deal of time and frustration when you batch produce multiples of the same project.  An added benefit is it also allows time for the adhesive to dry on your first one before you circle back to it to do the next step.
Two of my 4 finished products.
